MELLOR 10K TRAIL RUN
Raising Funds for Mellor Lacrosse Club

With around 300 meters of elevation gain, The Mellor 10k Trail Run is a challenging but runnable trail race on the border of Greater Manchester and The High Peak. Starting with a short section on closed roads, the route quickly picks up the tracks and trails of the River Goyt valley for the relatively ‘flat’ run through to Strines. Now the challenge begins! From Strines Station, the route climbs steadily up past The Fox Inn at Brookbottom and then out over Mellor Moor with views of Lyme Park, Kinder Scout, Alderley Edge and the Manchester Skyline. From the top of the course near the iconic Mellor Cross, the route descends quickly, with some technical sections, before the last dash through Knowle Woods towards the finish at Mellor Sport Club.

The mainly off-road course has plenty to keep you on your toes with paths, tracks, open farmland, short sections on country lanes, a few stiles and some steps! Expect a well-marked course with happy and helpful marshals… and plenty of mud!

A fully waymarked and marshalled 10k (approx) trail run - No navigation required.

Professional race photographer out on the course - remember to smile!

Medal for all finishers.

This is a mainly off-road course – we highly recommend using trail running shoes as road shoes are unlikely to give you enough grip. Why not visit our friends at Inov-8 Store Bakewell or their sister store, Inov-8 Store Sheffield, for friendly advice on the best shoes for the run!

Post-run food and drink will be available to purchase at Mellor Sports Club (last year we had a chippy van, woodfired pizza and the Sports Club Bar - you can expect similar for 2025!).

Race numbers are to be collected from Mellor Sports Club on the day. Registration will be open from 9am until 10.30am. Please allow plenty of time to park and collect your number.

Sorry, we will not be able to accept entries on the day.

All runners must have their number clearly displayed whilst out on the course – you will not be allowed to cross the finish line if marshals cannot see your number.

You must not run with someone else’s number.

There will be no water station on the course. Please carry your own water if you think you will need it. Water will be available at the finish.

There are some stiles in the 2nd half of the course – ‘bunching’ is unlikely but please wait your turn if there is someone in front of you – please do not be tempted to climb over walls and fences (we need to keep the landowners happy!).

In order to minimise the impact on residents, landowners, other trail users and our marshals, we have set a generous cut-off of time of 2 hours for this event. If you are unable to complete a 10k run within this time limit, please consider whether this is the event for you!

There will be no access to the car park at Mellor Sports Club on the day of the event – please park considerately on the surrounding roads or, if possible, use public transport. There are also several public carparks in Marple Bridge (just over 1km from the start). Marple Train Station is just over 1.5km from the Sports Club and is on the Manchester to Sheffield (Hope Valley) Line.

Course Records (set on our inaugural event in 2024):
Men: Joe Godwood - 43mins 40secs
Ladies: Alice Wright - 46mins 58secs

No dogs allowed on the course.

Open to all runners aged 16 and over on the day of the event

Entry fee: £17.00

Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds and deferments. The event raises money for Mellor Lacrosse Club - all the organisers and marshals are volunteers and the event has significant upfront costs. If you need to pull out for any reason, we would ask that you please consider your entry fee as a generous donation.
