With over 300 meters of ascent, The Mellor 10k Trail Run (in aid of Mellor Lacrosse Club) is a hilly but runnable trail run on the Stockport/High Peak border. Starting at Mellor Sports Club with a short section along the road, the fully marked and marshalled route quickly picks up the off-road tracks and descends into the Goyt Valley for the relatively ‘flat’ run through to Strines… then the fun begins! A climb of around 230 meters over the next 3.5k takes you out of the valley, past the hamlet of Brookbottom and out over Mellor Moor. From the iconic Mellor Cross, the route drops down to Mellor Golf Course before heading back through Knowle Woods to the finish at the Sports Club. Expect happy & helpful marshals, a variety of terrain and surfaces to keep things interesting, and plenty of mud!

A fully waymarked and marshalled 10k (approx) trail run. No navigation required.

Free professional race photo out on the course - remember to smile!

Wooden medal for all finishers.

The run is on a mainly off-road course – we recommend using trail running shoes.

First aid cover at Mellor Sports Club and out on the course – if you (or someone else) require assistance, please report to the nearest marshal.

The course is run almost entirely on public rights of way – please be respectful of other users.

Post-run food and drink available to purchase at Mellor Sports Club.

Race numbers are to be collected from Mellor Sports Club on the day. Registration will be open from 9am until 10.30am. Please allow plenty of time to park and collect your number.

We will not be able to accept entries on the day.

All runners must have their number clearly displayed whilst out on the course – you will not be allowed to cross the finish line if marshals cannot see your number.

You must not run with someone else’s number.

There will be no water station on the course. Please carry your own water if you think you will need it.

There are some stiles in the 2nd half of the course – ‘bunching’ is unlikely but please wait your turn if there is someone in front of you – please do not be tempted to climb over walls and fences (we need to keep landowners happy!).

Please listen to the instructions of marshals, they are there for your safety.

Please take care at road crossings – marshals do not have the power to stop traffic for you.

There will be no access to the car park at Mellor Sports Club on the day of the event – please park considerately on the surrounding roads or, if possible, use public transport. There are also several public carparks in Marple Bridge (just over 1km from the start). Marple Train Station is just over 1.5km from the Sports Club.

No dogs allowed on the course (dogs are welcome to stay with spectators at Mellor Sport club – please remember to clean up after them!).

Open to all runners aged 16 and over on the day of the event

Entry fee: £16.50
